2010 Republican Gains

 Ø Republicans have swept all statewide offices on the ballot for eight consecutive elections (1996 – 2010). 

Ø Texas has voted for a Republican Governor for five straight elections (1994 to 2010).

 Ø Republicans gained three Congressional seats and now have a 23-9 edge in the Texas delegation.

 Ø Republicans now have controlling majorities in 136 county courthouses (a gain of 29 courts).  In 53 of those counties, Republicans hold all five of the seats on the court.
