FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                 February 28, 2014

Cooke County Republicans Shooting for Funds on April 26

“BYOG” is the call from the Cooke County Republican Party, as the organization gears up to celebrate the Second Amendment at its “Bring Your Own Gun” Sporting Clays Shoot on Saturday, April 26. The event will be held at Fossil Pointe Shooting Grounds north of Decatur, and is open to the public.

Registration is now underway. Four person teams will compete, and the fee for shooters is $100 per person. The fee includes the shoot, gimmes, lunch, and door prizes. Individuals who sign up without a full team will be paired with other shooters by the event director at Fossil Pointe. The cost for folks who want to come for the lunch and awards presentation is $20pp.

BYOG 2014 is the brainchild of GOP County Chair Chuck Bartush, who learned of similar events when he attended Texas Republican County Chairmen’s Association meetings in Austin. Bartush explained, “Our County Executive Committee really wanted to do this last year, but we ran out of time. Now we’re running out of money, so, as I often say, let’s go!”

Bartush hopes BYOG attracts candidates from the area and statewide who qualify for the anticipated runoff election in May. “What a great opportunity for them to meet voters from Cooke, Wise, and Montague counties,” Bartush noted. “I’ve participated in events at Fossil Pointe. It is a first class operation that I know our shooters and supporters will thoroughly enjoy.”
